Have you created a Lasting Power of Attorney?
Did you register it with the Office of the Public Guardian any time between April 2013 and March 2017? If you did then you may be entitled to a partial refund of the fees paid.
This month the Government has launched a scheme to enable individuals who paid excessive Lasting Power of Attorney registration fees claim back a proportion of the fees paid. The scheme is available to those who incurred the fee at any time between April 2013 and March 2017. The reclaim scheme applies to repeat applications and remissions.
An online application is required to reclaim the fees and a successful claim will amount to a refund of £34-£54 depending on when the application was submitted. Applications submitted where reduced fees applied will be entitled to claim half the refund. Refunds must be paid direct to the person who appointed an Attorney (“Donor”).
